420hc is a fine steel, S30v is “better”.
I use regularly a Buck Woodsman and a Buck folder (285 i think) in 420hc.
They are great but don’t hold an edge like S30v or other “super” steels.
420hc is a great affordable steel but you need to touch them up often if you want a razor sharp blade..
